What companion care is
Companion care is for someone who can still do nearly everything on their own, but should not have to do it all alone. A companion keeps them company, prepares meals and goes along to errands and appointments.
What the companion does
- Company and conversation
- Preparing meals
- Going along to errands, such as shopping
- Going along to doctor's appointments
Need help with bathing or dressing?
Companion care is not hands-on care. For help with bathing, dressing, eating or moving around, look at personal care.
How to pay
Companion care is private pay only: you pay per hour, and we give you a clear price on the phone before care starts. Medicaid and insurance, long-term care insurance included, only pay for care from a certified aide, such as personal care. Paying for home care explains both.
